Liqueur and cognac exports from Krasnodar Region rise by a third in January – May 2026

Between January and May 2026, businesses in the Krasnodar Region exported about 100,000 litres of distilled spirits, including cognac, worth 430,000 dollars. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Krasnodar Region, both the volume and value of those exports rose by an average of 32% compared with the same period in 2025.

This year, the main export destinations were Abkhazia, Tajikistan, and China. In 2025, the region’s distillates were shipped primarily to Tajikistan, Israel, and Kazakhstan.

Demand for Russian cognac varies considerably from market to market and is influenced by different factors in each region. In the Commonwealth of Independent States, Russian cognacs retain a substantial share of the imported spirits market, supported by established consumer preferences.

In Asia, consumption of imported spirits is growing as local incomes rise and the middle class expands. Moreover, in many Asian markets, global brands have yet to establish a dominant position in the cognac segment, creating opportunities for Russian producers.

In the Middle East, demand is driven by tourism and large migrant communities, including migrants from the Commonwealth of Independent States.
